Pameungpeuk never dies

Okay, it's not my first trip to Pameungpeuk, but the memories left are still unforgettable. Just like Bayu said,
"Neither the place nor the time that matter... But whom you spend it with..."
My first trip to Pameungpeuk was a year ago, with my classmates, and non-classmates actually. It's 9 of us, in a medium car, not SUV nor van. So you can imagine how crowded inside the car.

Oh, by the way, Pameungpeuk is a region in southern Garut, West Java. It is known for its natural spot like beach, waterfall, and conservation. And for this second trip there, I was with my friends from Gemati (a Magelang group in my college), Amalia, Tutik, Bayu, Andre, Kiky, Nico, and Hamzah. We were planning to depart by night, so the car's rent fee was going to be optimally used by coming back on the next night. Such a reckless decision since there's none of us that really know how to drive. All guys here didn't have their driving license yet, except for Nico, that turn out to have a "shotgun-driving-license". I have advised them to go on daylight, but they insisted.

And the night came, we gathered at the car's parking lot in campus. We departed at about 9 p.m., Nico was the first driver. It turn out to be fine. Seeing that made us feel more at ease. From 8 of us, there're just 2 that have visited Pameungpeuk before, Hamzah and me. And somehow I just can't sleep that night. I closed my eyes, but didn't sleep. I knew that there have been driver change once. Andre drove from the time we started to enter Gunung Gelap. The road through the mountain was extremely curved, made me couldn't sleep even more. Plus, it was rain all the way from Garut and getting bigger once we arrived at the mountain, with the strong wind, that really made an unforgettable journey for me. The road inside was okay, until we almost reached Pameungpeuk, the road was so "no-no". Finally, we arrived at Pameungpeuk region at about 2.30 a.m. We still need to drive about 20 minutes to get to the beach.

First destination was Sayangheulang beach to catch up the sunrise moment. Sayangheulang is one beach before Santolo beach from downtown. Sayangheulang seemed to have less attention than Santolo. It didn't have a sign on the road. The gate was also didn't have a sign on it. The road from gate to the beach was quite far. And it didn't have any sidewalk lamp. So imagine the trip in the dark where the road wasn't in a good condition, big tree and darkness along the road, strong wind, and the only light was from our car. Seemed like a scene from a horror movie for me, so did the others think.

Finally we reached the beach. It's about 3.30 a.m. there. The sun hasn't showed up yet, so we slept first. And when the sun started to rise up, we walk along the beach and take pictures. Because here, you can't play on the beach, it's more like a coral beach than a soft-sands beach.

sunrise at Sayangheulang
In my opinion, Sayangheulang was great for taking pictures. If you walk alongside the beach, more beautiful view can be seen.
We were there for about an hour after the sunrise. The guys started to say that they're hungry. It's not like here in Sayangheulang, didn't have restaurants or what, but because we planned to have our breakfast in Santolo beach. (When I said restaurant, I mean a SIMPLE place where someone serve the food. Don't imagine a five-star-hotel like restaurant). So we went to Santolo beach that (the gate is) only about 500 meters from Sayangheulang's gate. We ordered 1/2 kg of crispy fried shrimp for Rp 65.000,00 (about USD 7), 0.8 kg of barbecued salmon for Rp 56.000,00 (about USD 6), 2 plates of stir-fry "kangkung" (you could say: water spinach) for Rp 20.000,00 (about USD 2.5), and of course 8 portions of rice for Rp 28.000,00 (about USD 3).
After we had finished our breakfast, we try to found place to change clothes, since we wanted to play on the beach. Santolo is a beach where you can play on the sands. I think that's why it way more well-known than Sayangheulang.

Actually, there's a land-like over the estuary, a beach like Sayangheulang with more beautiful set of place. We didn't go there though, but I have gone there in my first trip. We just spent our time playing on the beach. It was so much fun, playing with the wave, throwing sands to each other, dragging others so they get wet, everything. And my favorite part was when I just lay on the sand, staring at the very vast blue sky.
Tips: Don't forget to apply the sunblock. :p
seems like paradise, eh? :D

When we went there, the tide was pretty high than before, even the rocks-pier-like just gone covered by the tide. Yes it's dangerous to play on that kind of tide, but just like Bayu said, "It's no mean to go to a beach but didn't get wet." :D
Simple words yet true. When you have a chance to have fun, go on, have fun. Or maybe someday you'll just regret for that. :)

After playing all day, we got ourselves cleaned and we decided to go back to Bandung. But if you really had a long vacant time, I suggest you to explore every beach in Pameungpeuk. You can just follow the road, and see the amazing scenery along the journey. You can find a map guide here. Too bad we didn't have much time at that time. Maybe someday I'll just explore it more. :)

Adios! ^^
